Abstract

The Random Direction Mobility Model is a commonly used mobility model for simulations of wireless communication networks. By giving a formal description of this model first, we mainly study some of its fundamental stochastic properties in three-dimensional. The precise formulas of the node space probabilistic distribution in 3-D are given in this paper. Consequently, the results of this paper are of practical value for performance analysis of mobile Ad Hoc network and provide fundamental basis for the research on some its characteristics, such as, connectivity, average path length, network capacity and so on, moreover, they provide precise theoretic foundations for derivations, proofs, simulations and applications of Ad Hoc network based on 3-D Random Direction Mobility Model.
