Abstract
AbstractTo suppress the coupling between the input and output that causes degradation of the performance of a microwave amplifier, a method is known in which a lossy magnetic sheet is attached to the upper lid. In the present paper, in order to explain this suppression effect theoretically, the coupling between two microstrip lines in a box is formulated by using the model of coupling between the microstrip line and the fundamental mode of a three‐layered inhomogeneously filled waveguide. In order to confirm the validity of this formulation, the coupling is measured by attaching a rubber sheet containing soft‐magnetic metallic powder. The theoretical results agree well with the experimental values. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
