Abstract
The idea of this paper roots in the electromagnetic compatibility design of the whole aircraft system, in which out of band characteristics of airborne antennas are of equal importance as their characteristics in band. The definition of antenna characteristics for out of band is interpreted. Pyramidal horn antennas are the main research objects in this paper and focus on analyzing and investigating phase center features for out of band. The characterization framework of horn antennas phase center for out of band is established, and the theoretical expressions of their phase center for out of band are given. In ensuring better antenna characteristics in band, phase centers of two pyramidal horn antennas out of band and in band that are different types of sizes, different frequency band width are simulated and analyzed by using the integrated analysis method about electromagnetic simulation software combined with the theoretical calculation, and adopting a variance minimization method in statistical data processing. It is meaningful to analyze and summarize the different characteristics of equivalent phase center for these pyramidal horn antennas in band and out of band. The results show that: phase center of pyramidal horn antennas is the law within the working frequency band and out of working band, and this change characteristics affects radiation pattern characteristics of pyramidal horn antennas.
