Abstract

A novel wheel multi-disc coreless permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) is presented in this paper. The machine consists of three external rotor discs and two inner stator discs. Three-dimensional finite element analysis for air gap flux density is adopted to discuss the impact of axial and Halbach array permanent magnet on lateral rotor discs. In order to develop the impact of different pole angles of permanent magnet on intermediate rotor disc, an analysis for air gap flux density and main magnetic flux are also carried out. Furthermore, the relevant design parameters of a sample motor are also presented in the paper.
