Abstract

This paper describes eddy current analysis using the integral method and mechanical vibration analysis using the finite-element method. taking coupling effects into consideration. The motional electromotive force due to deflection is calculated from the time variations of the mutual energies between the magnetic field and the eddy current in the Lagrangian coordinate system without using the v×B term. The time variations are obtained by moving the coordinates of the discretized nodes according to the results of the vibration analysis. The calculated results are in good agreement with the experimental results of TEAM Workshop Problems 12 and 16. The importance of the coupling effect in a fusion device is shown by the calculated results of a cylinder for plasma disruption with downward motion.
