Abstract

In this paper, a novel zero voltage switching (ZVS) is based high conversion ratio bidirectional DC-DC converter for the energy storage system proposed. Within the buck mode, the proposed converter is like that of a cascade consisting of an isolated buck-boost converter and a buck converter, thus achieving a high step-down ratio. Similarly, in the boost mode, the converter is analogous to the cascaded structure consisting of a boost converter and an isolated buck-boost converter, and then a high step-up ratio is achieved. Thus, a high conversion ratio has been established with the proposed converter. In addition to this ZVS eliminates switching losses and improves conversion efficiency. Furthermore, the validity and performance of the proposed converter are verified employing a prototype.
