Abstract

In order to drive an actual electromagnetic launch load, multiple inductive pulsed power modules need to operate in coordination and keep symmetrical. Stacking is one of the main solutions to ensure symmetry. In this article, a tightly coupled dual-module scheme is proposed, which can make the system shape more practical and make full use of the mutual inductance between modules to increase energy density. In addition, a circuit equivalent method of two coupled basic modules is proposed, so that this kind of dual module can be designed through parameter optimization. The energy storage of the experimental device built with reference to the optimization result reaches 121 kJ, the energy density reaches 3.3 MJ/m3, and the peak output current reaches 34 kA.
