Abstract

AbstractThe research touches upon modern trends in the machine tool industry, which are associated with a constant increase of the portable metal-cutting machine's demand to perform repair work or modernize the structures of large-sized equipment, the dismantling of which is impossible or not economically feasible. The increase in demand for such equipment makes it necessary to reduce the design and production time for this type of machine tool, with unconditional observance of quality parameters. In the process of research, the existing world practice of designing, manufacturing, and operating equipment of this class was used, as well as the tasks for technical re-equipment of the energy industry. The paper highlights and analyzes the main features of the layout of portable machine tools formulates the main classification features and proposes a description of a hierarchical classification model, which is based on the methods of discriminant analysis. As the main classification features of layout solutions, possible options for implementing the kinematics of shaping the machined surface, as well as basing and fixing a portable machine on the processing object are considered. Further refinement of the classification for each hierarchical branch is associated with the geometric parameters of the surface, parameters of the cutting process are not the purpose of this work and will be considered in the next publication. This research is aimed at typing design layout solutions and, in the future, optimizing the design and production process using the principles of aggregation and modular layout of portable machines.
