Abstract

The B-network was first studied by Lee and Yoon. The systematic imbalance of the internal link traffic, which was overlooked, was rectified by Lau & Poon. The rectified model was then simulated with buffer added at the input and/or output stage. In this paper, the performance of buffered B-network is fully investigated. The packet arrival rates in each link, throughput and average delay of the network are derived mathematically. They are then compared with the simulation results. Finally, comparisons are made on the throughput and average delay performance between buffered B-networks, unbuffered B-networks, gamma networks and crossbar networks.
