Abstract

AbstractThe Sichuan-Tibet Railway passes through many seismic fault zones, which leads to the high operation risk of the overhead catenary system. In this paper, a 4-mast-3-span “weight-conductor-cantilever-mast” coupling catenary system is built to test the seismic performance of the catenary under different types of seismic excitation. Then the seismic performance of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway is studied based on the finite element model, considering the different types of seismic waves and the various catenary parameters. The key points of seismic fortification of catenary system are obtained. As a result, we conclude that increasing the catenary tension and decreasing the span length are effectively help to improve the catenary’s aseismic behavior.KeywordsSichuan-Tibet RailwayOverhead catenary systemSeismic performanceSeismic test deviceFinite element methodSeismic response
