Abstract

This paper presents a 1-kW phase-shift full-bridge (PS-FB) converter with a toroid-core-wound autotransformer for current-doubler rectifier (TCWA-CDR), which acts as current source for battery charging. Comparing to the use of one-inductor rectifier, in continuous-conduction mode (CCM), the valid duty of the PS-FB converter with the proposed CDR can be extended due to small transition period. In particular, in close to discontinuous-conduction mode (DCM), there is no transition period appearing in the primary current ip, which leads the four primary switches and the two secondary diodes switching at close to zero-current switching (ZCS). Thus, the efficiency of this topology can be as high as over 92%.
