Abstract

SUMMARY The design of mechanical feeders is very much a matter for experience. This paper illustrates that by experiment and synthesis better understanding of the behaviour of such devices can be achieved. Although the work specifically relates to a particular feeder handling simple cylinders, the exercise is capable of wider interpretation and the techniques evaluated could be applied in a wider sense.
