Analysis and measurement of the impact of tourism demand and tourism investment in economic growth In Kurdistan Region of Iraq for the period (2007-2020)

Abstract

Tourism in the world has become one of the most effective economic activities in achieving economic growth through its interconnected and integrated activities with other economic sectors such as industry and agriculture, and trade, as the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, enjoys a diverse tourism resource, which is an attractive factor for tourism demand and tourism investment and an important source for achieving economic growth, but due to the political, economic and health conditions, it not reach the required level of economic growth. From this point of view, there is talk about tourism demand and tourism investment and their impact on economic growth. This article aims to study and analyze the impact of tourism demand and tourism investment in promoting economic growth. To achieve this objective, the econometrics method was adopted using a set of models (ROBUST, FMOLS, NLS and ARMA) and based on the available data for the period (2020 - 2007 ). Finally, the article reached several conclusions, including that tourism demand and tourism investment lead to economic growth. Also, the global financial crisis in 200 8, the internal financial crisis in the region in 2014 , and the spread of the Corna virus in 201 9 are among the main problems and obstacles facing the growth of tourism demand and tourism investment, and thus economic growth. Finally, it is a recommendation for the government and the concerned authorities to pay great attention to the tourism sector by allocating a sufficient percentage of the government’s budget for tourism investments and working to activate the role of the private sector to attract a large number of tourists and increase tourism demand by increasing the level of tourism services and diversifying them.
