Abstract

This article presents results of a wider study devoted to the analysis of a sample of institutional portals and commercial platforms which offer educational digital resources. The mentioned study is part of a R+D+I Project entitled «Digital School: the analysis of the production and use of educational digital contents in schools». The main purpose of the article is to carry out a comparative analysis of Canary Islands, Galicia and Valencia institutional portals, offering suggestion for improvement. We review literature in Spanish on evaluation of webs, educational digital materials and institutional portals and describe the research methodology utilized. Then, we synthetize the results of the analysis, and, finally, present the discussion and conclusions. The institutional portals depend on the corresponding Regional Department of Education, offer certain services and educational resources, and host resources repositories. They offer educational resources of different kind but It is not possible to identify an underlying pedagogical model. However, the way resources are organized let us to glimpse a pedagogical model linked to a fragmented curricular approach based on graduation and school subjects. The resources and services offered promote and support the exchange and collaboration between users. Improvement is needed in aspects such as: the organization of educational resources; the aural accessibility; the portals design; and the updating of different sections.
