Abstract

This paper presents a novel design procedure based on analysis for the class $-\Phi_{2}$ inverter at any duty ratio, taking into account the fundamental-frequency and harmonic components of the input current, output current, and injection current. By using the proposed design procedure, the design values for satisfying the class-E zero-voltage switching/zero-derivative switching (ZVS/ZDS) conditions of the class $-\Phi_{2}$ inverter can be achieved without applying any tuning process. A design example is given along with its LTspice simulation and laboratory experiment at 20.5 W output power and 6.78 MHz operating frequency. The analytical predictions agreed with experimental and LTspice-simulation results quantitatively, which showed the validity of analytical expressions given in this paper.
