Abstract

A 2.5m multi-load Inductive Power Transfer (IPT) system with a Constant Voltage (CV) output characteristics for each load is proposed in this paper. Five Power Transfer Coils (PTC) of Cylindrical Solenoid Coupler (CSC) based on distributed series compensation method are used to transfer power, and three Power Coils (PC) are nested in the outer layer of the corresponding PTCs to achieve isolation of the system power supply and pickup. The output characteristics at each load can be varied with the relative positions of the power transfer coils and power coils, increasing the flexibility of the system design. The system achieves power supply to multi-stage state detection equipment of High Voltage (HV) device in long-range simultaneously. When the parasitic resistance of the coil is ignored, the CV characteristics can be derived, allowing for independent and adjustable power control of each load. Furthermore, the impact of parasitic resistances on system performance is studied. A prototype of the system is built to validate the proposed long-range IPT system, and the system efficiency reaches 66.7% when the power of each load resistor is 10 W.
