Abstract

In this paper, a novel asymmetrical bistable stator protruding type permanent magnet actuator (ABSPTPMA) is proposed. The operating principle and mathematical model of the high voltage circuit breaker (HVCB) with the presented ABSPTPMA are analyzed. The static and dynamic characteristics of the HVCB with the ABSPTPMA are discussed and calculated by the numerical finite element analysis methods. The influence of the length of mover and additional coil in the ABSPTPMA are researched. The advantages of the proposed machine, such as smaller mover mass, higher starting speed, less permanent magnet volume, more efficiency and low cost, are discussed.
