Abstract

A new approach for designing a multi-hole-waveguide coupler for X-band is proposed. Levy analysed two-hole aperture and used it for designing a high directivity multi-hole coupler. The present analysis is done for 3-hole aperture and it has been incorporated in designing a multi-hole high directivity compact coupler. The method of analysis and design is partly from Shelton, Hensperger and Levy. An equivalent circuit synthesis technique and distributed low-pass prototype Alter design method was followed for the analysis of 3-hole aperture and for designing the multi-hole compact coupler respectively. It has been possible to achieve a directivity greater than 38 dB in a length of 17.5 cm.
