Abstract
This paper presents the design of a control system for the boost converter with voltage multiplier cell. The adopted strategy employs an inner loop for the input current control and an outer loop for the output voltage regulation. As with the conventional boost converter, this strategy allows the improvement of the dynamic response of the converter and avoid the restrictions imposed by the non-minimum phase zero in the transfer function of the output voltage by the duty cycle. Simulation and experimental results are presented, showing the robustness of the proposed controller subject to load and input voltage disturbances. Besides, it is demonstrated that the controller designed with the aid of the reduced order model is capable to adequately control the converter with the inclusion of the resonant inductor.
