Abstract

Objective To understand the mental health status and related influencing factors of patients with cervical cancer undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and to carry out effective nursing intervention. Methods 60 patients with cervical cancer undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy received survey analysis with self rating depression scale (SDS), self rating anxiety scale (SAS), and self-designed influence factors questionnaire. Over the same period 60 healthy women were selected as the control group from 4 districts in Chaoshan. The patients received psychological assessment after 7 d of nursing intervention based on the influence factors. Results SDS and SAS scores of cervical cancer patients with radiotherapy and chemotherapy were (56.1±7.7) and (45.2±7.5), significantly higher than those of healthy women (P<0.001); after 7 d of nursing intervention, SDS and SAS scores of cervical cancer patients with radiotherapy and chemotherapy decreased significantly, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The influence factors of mental health of patients were mainly hospital expense, lack of disease-related medical knowledge, fear, family and social effects, side effects, and the prognosis of disease. Conclusions The patients with cervical cancer undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy has poor mental health status. The nursing staff should provide psychological counseling and support for patients according to the influence factors in the treatment of disease, to improve the anxiety and depression and promote the recovery of the patients, of great significance.
