Abstract
The double seals technology is widely used in the large oil tank. But several oil tank lightning fire accident investigations illustrate that fires were caused by the discharge in the double sealing space. In this paper, the mechanism of lightning fire accident in the double sealing space was analyzed based on the investigation results of some domestic lightning accidents of large floating roof tanks. The lightning protection measures for floating roof tank’s second sealing space was summarized including both domestic and foreign lightning protection related codes, specification specifications and technology technologies.
