Abstract

Extracurriculars are activities outside of class hours to form students who are knowledgeable and develop students' talents and interests so that the educational process is not just about subject matter. Thus, this study aims to analyze and compare the implementation of extracurricular activities in one of the public and private elementary schools in Bandung district. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews and documentation. The subjects of this study were school principals, heads of extracurricular units, and extracurricular coaches. The results of the study showed that the two schools had started extracurriculars by planning to implementing them well and consistently conducting assessments. There are differences and similarities in terms of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges in the two schools in carrying out extracurricular activities at school. In addition, the two schools still need strategies to overcome the weaknesses and challenges they face in order to make the most of extracurricular activities.
