Abstract

Auscultation is a widely used technique by cardiologists. In potentially deadly heart diseases, such as natural heart valve dysfunction or even heart failure, auscultation is one of the most reliable, cheap and successful techniques. However, the acoustic signals contain information that cannot be easily perceived and analyzed by the human ear. Signal processing and pattern recognition techniques thus could be introduced to tackle this problem.
