Abstract

Picturebooks, based on life, include the customs or values of the period, beliefs and lifestyles in their works. So with the changing years, they also undergo changes. Picturebooks in the digital age become much more complex and sophisticated than before, requiring more complex aspects and deeper insight. Various literary devices are used to convey multidimensional meanings. Through these processes and changes, the existing strict literary system collapses, and experimental forms and narrative methods, such as genre convergence, meta-structure, and the bold relationship between space-time are revealed in modern picturebooks. This change in children''s literature in the digital age is explained by Dresang''s “Radical Change Theory” (Dresang, 3). According to this theory, modern children''s literature undergoes three types of changes: changing forms and formats, changing perspectives, and changing boundaries. In this paper, I’d like to analyze the complexities the interesting characteristics shown in picturebooks of the digital age based on this “Radical Change Theory.” (Hannam University)
