Abstract
The European Union has set itself the goal of halving traffic noise by 2020. After measures taken at the drive train, further reductions will only be forthcoming in the field of vehicle tyres in future. To measure the tyre-road noise, a suitable tyre-testing vehicle based on the BMW 5-Series was developed at the Institut für Kraftfahrwesen Aachen (ika). This was done on behalf of TÜV Automotive GmbH.
