Abstract

This paper adopts a two-stage fuzzy closed system Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to assess the efficiency of India’s non-life insurance industry. The framework of marketability and profitability’s sub-processes is evaluated in two stages, with the first stage considering three inputs and three outputs, and the second stage considers the outputs of first stage as inputs and assuming three different outputs as variables for 12 different non-life insurers (both public and private) which are a basis of secondary information from Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India for the period of FY 2015 to 2020. Our findings reveal the individual efficiency measure for marketability and profitability sub – processes of the selected non-life insurance firms functioning in India.
