Abstract

A model for the analysing powers of peripheral transfer reactions is presented. We find that the analysing powers of different tensor rank are very selective in their sensitivity to Q‐value dependence, recoil effects and nuclear structure effects in the projectile. The predictions of the model are well reproduced by DWBA calculations and are in good agreement with the Q dependence of iT11 in the 58Ni(7Li, 6Li)59Ni reaction at 20.3 MeV.
