Abstract

• Five narrative-driven digital educational games were selected for analysis, and their writers interviewed. • Games and writer interviews were analysed using the Games as Action, Games as Text framework. • The framework was operationalized through the development of 120 guide questions. • These games were found to use a complex combination of elements found both inside and outside of the games themselves. • Findings support use of the framework for narrative-driven digital educational game analysis.
