Abstract

Abstract The authors study the thermal desorption of volatile organic compounds and water from the porous structure of activated carbon. The purpose is the retention heats evaluation of some chlorinated compounds on such a porous material. A thermal analysis method leads to quantify the solute ‐porous solid binding enthalpies. The results are compared with the litterature data for our solvents. These interaction enthalpies are related to a physical and chemical parameter of the solute. A fair correlation is found for the studied chlorinated family solvents.
