Abstract

18 new bicyclo[ n,1,0]alkanes or alkenes, mono- or di-silylated have been studied by 29Si NMR, by use of the selective polarization transfer technique (SPT). This indicated the influence of the stereochemistry of the molecule had upon NMR data, especially the 29Si 1H coupling constants. Thus we found that 3 J depends on the Me 3Si group position and 2 J′ reflects directly the steric hindrance between the silicon and the ring: equal to zero with the exo derivatives, it varies according to the bicyclic ring strain for the endo ones. Furthermore, the perfect selectivity of SPT permits the assignments of the SiMe 3 signals in 1H NMR
