Abstract

A phase-shift analysis of recent experimental π −− 12C elastic-scattering data is presented. A phenomenological model is used to predict the higher-order phase shifts so as to reduce the number of unknown parameters. Their statistical error is computed. It indicates that certain of these parameters are badly determined.
