Abstract
Businesses are challenged by the negative consequences on their operations and productivity due to workplace accidents and occupational illnesses. In this study, we examine the industrial ecosystem called SCPT river port, which happens to be in the city of Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The study concerns the occupational accidents and illnesses encountered there in 2020. We carried out the research by directly observing, examining the company's literature, reports and written documents, as well as by discussing with employees. We used the data collection form in the KoBo Collect Toolbox application. The data was collected live on a tablet. The recording, processing and study of the information collected was carried out using EpiData 3.0 software to encode and enter the information. Using Excel 2016 and SPSS 22, it was possible to perform flat sorting, cross sorting and data analysis. The results obtained show the presence of illnesses: 47 cases of occupational illnesses and more than 60 cases of occupational accidents in the industrial ecosystem.
