Abstract

A small earthquake swarm occurred in May 2004 immediately north of the Agly massif, in the Pyrenees, where the so-called Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet earthquake ( M L = 5.2) took place in February 1996. Accurate locations of the events, thanks to the records of temporary stations, and comparison with the distribution of the 1996 aftershocks reveal a new tectonically active structure. The 1996 event can be reinterpreted in the light of this new evidence.
