Abstract

Let X1, X2, … be a sequence of independent random variables with nonnegative integer values. Define random indicators η0, η1, … as follows: ηn = 1 if n (n = 0, 1, …) is a record value in the sequence X; otherwise, n = 0. It is known that these indicators are independent if the initial values are identically distributed. The record indicators of the sequences of unequal distributed X remain independent [6].
