Abstract

The community is now starting to be aware of the potential of natural resources and their utilization, a lot of coastal area land that was previously not used or only used to plant coconut trees but has now been developed into a more profitable business, such as being used for vannamei shrimp ponds. The purpose of this research was to find out the increase in the welfare of vannamei shrimp cultivators based on pro-environmental behaviour in Lapa Taman village, Sumenep district. The results in this study were that the average reason for the people of Lapa Taman village to become vannamei shrimp farmers was to increase income and wanted their own business, then the average vannamei shrimp farmers got initial capital through loans from banks. This situation was actually becoming a problem for some people who have ponds. Even though the vannamei shrimp farmers in Lapa Taman Village already had IPAL, but it was not in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations, the IPAL provided by the farmers only used land IPAL which was not extensive, some use pipe pipes which were dumped into vacant land areas so that it polluted the environment. This situation requires active assistance from the village and district governments to conduct training to increase the capacity of farmers to minimize failures and protect the environment.
