Abstract

This study aims to describe the analysis of the use of Malin Kundang fairy tale film media in teaching listening skills to students. In this study, it tries to reveal the results of students' listening skills using fairy tale film media during classroom learning. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews and documentation. Data obtained from student subjects as a key instrument, then interviews were conducted with class V teachers and school principals. The data analysis technique used is from Miles and Huberman which consists of three steps, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results showed that the listening skills of fifth grade students at Muhammadiyah 24 Elementary School Surabaya, based on observations made by researchers, students had mastered the listening skills contained in the indicators and also students were more active and enthusiastic in participating in class learning using Malin Kundang's fairy tale film media. Efforts made in improving students' listening skills are by updating learning strategies, methods, and using creative and innovative learning media. As a teacher, it is also necessary to provide special guidance for students who are less active in listening learning.
