Abstract

Beginning reading is a skill that must be possessed by elementary school students, especially the lower grades. In the implementation process, there are usually students who experience difficulties in learning to read the beginning. The result of this will be an obstacle to the next learning process. This study aims to analyze problems regarding difficulties in learning to read beginning in grade II at SDN Manggalasari and the factors that influence learning difficulties in beginning reading. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this research were students who had difficulty with beginning reading, namely in grade II, which consisted of 6 people. Data obtained from the results of ability tests, observations, interviews and supported by documentation. The research results obtained showed that almost all of the students studied were able to pronounce the letters of the alphabet, vowels and consonants. However, in the indicator it says that on diphthongs and digraphs there are 4 people who are not fluent and 2 people who can't. In the aspect of reading words and syllables, there were 3 students who were not fluent and 3 students who could not. Then in the aspect of reading the provisions, it was obtained data that there were 2 students who were not fluent and 4 students who could not. The factors that most influence it are intellectual and environmental factors.
