Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the literacy skills of students in MA Jabal Noer in biology. The quality of education is determined by the learning outcomes of students from the assessment instruments provided. Assessment of science literacy is a benchmark that determines the quality of education in a country that is sheltered by PISA. Instruments for science literacy skills in the form of questions and an assessment rubric as a guide for determining the level of science literacy of students. Student learning outcomes are influenced by the assessment mandated in the 2013 Curriculum. The results of this study indicate that the level of science literacy in biology subjects still tends to be at level 3, namely interpreting phenomena. While the learning outcomes of students are classified in the low category. The causes of low science literacy skills are viewed from learning activities through lesson plans made by the teacher. The study from the RPP analysis shows that the learning activities, media learning, and assessments carried out do not yet support students' science literacy. The results of this study indicate the main factors that influence students' low science literacy in biology subjects
