Abstract

Yaws disease prevention behavior was influenced by predisposing factors such as knowledge and belief, enabling factors such as the availability of health care resources, and reinforcing factors such as family and community leaders support. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors which influence preventive behavior on Yaws Disease. Research design used was descriptive analytic with cross sectional approach. Samples were 99 respondents, taken according to the inclusion criteria. Independent variable were knowledge, belief, availability of health care resources, and support from family and community leaders. The dependent variable was preventive behavior on Yaws Disease. Data were collected by using questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression with α<0.05. Partially showed that knowledge (p = 0.017), belief (p = 0.049), availability of health care resources (p = 0.038), support from family (p = 0.030), and support from community (p = 0.018) had influence on preventive bahavior. It can be concluded that knowledge, belief, availability of health care resources, and support from family and community leaders had influence on Yaws Disease preventive bahavior. Therefore recomended that nurses should provide guidelines which used for Yaws eradication activities at endemic area to improve community behavior onYaws Disease Prevention.
