Abstract

Competency testing is a method for evaluating the cognitive, affective and psychomotor abilities of health workers. The competency test is one of the quality management instruments in applying the standards that apply nationally. This is to make a decision whether education meets standards, including students. Do they meet the quality standards applicable to the level/type of education pursued? This study aims to analyze the factors that affect the passing competency test of the diploma midwifery students STIKes MERCUBAKTIJAYA Padang. This type of research is analytic with cross sectional design. The population in this study were all participants of the Indonesian Midwives Competency Test first taker from Diploma Midwifery Program, STIKes MERCUBAKTIJAYA, Padang in 2018, the total were 187 people. Samples were taken using the total population technique. This research used documentation study. Data processing techniques included editing, coding, entry and cleaning. The data analysis used was univariable and bivariable analysis by using chi square and Independent T-Test. The results of the study were obtained from 187 respondents, the average GPA was 3.44, 59% of respondents attended the provision of competency test, the average value of the core subjects was 74, 71% passed the try out competency test, 88% passed the competency test. There is a difference between GPA, core subject scores, and there was a relation between passing try out competency test and passing competency tests (p 0.05). It is hoped that the institution needs to make several program plans to increase the value of core courses, the Grade Point Average (GPA) and graduation try outs through regular and continuous intensive guidance.
