Abstract

Coal is a cheap fuel, so it is widely used by steam power plants (PLTU). With many PLTUs using coal, the demand for coal increases and the quality of the coal is decreasing and the price continues to rise. With this problem, it is necessary to improve coal quality, one of which is by upgrading using a gas exhaust boiler. With using rotary dryer, the coal will be upgraded from low calorie to high calorie by reducing the moisture content, which will then be applied to the tempo cycle software 5.1. After application at cycle tempo 5.1, the best efficiency increase for PLTU can be increased efficiency and decrease coal rate, which is best obtained in the third experiment which achieved 37,041% efficiency with a coal rate of 17,567 kg / s.

Batubara merupakan bahan bakar yang murah, sehingga banyak di gunakan oleh pembangkit listrik tenaga uap (PLTU). Dengan banyak PLTU yang mengunakan batu bara tersebut, maka kebutuhan batu bara semakin banyak dan kualitas batu bara tersebut semakin menurun dan harganya pun terus naik. Dengan adanya masalah tersebut maka perlu meningkatkan kualitas batu bara, salah satunya dengan cara Upgrading mengunakan gas exhaust boiler. Batu bara yang akan di Upgrading dari kalori rendah ke kalori tinggi dengan mengurangi kadar air,yang kemudian hasil Upgrading tersebut yang mana akan diaplikasikan pada software cycle tempo 5.1. Setelah di aplikasi pada cycle tempo 5.1, maka didapat peningkatan efisiensi terbaik untuk PLTU dapat meningkat efesiensi dan menurunkan laju batu bara,yang mana yang terbaik di dapat pada percobaan ke tiga yang mencapai efesiensi 37.041 % dengan laju batu bara yaitu 17.567 kg/s
