Anaesthetic problems are often caused by equipment failures. Never bypass safety procedures, no matter how urgent the situation. Anaesthetic equipment and techniques are continuously changing to provide safer and more efficient anaesthesia. These changes often occur more quickly in the operating theatres than in A & E departments.
