Abstract

Cattle and sheep wastes were allowed to digest anaerobically in bench scale digestors to produce gas. Sheep waste was found to be better than cattle waste. Cellulose degradation and gas production from cattle waste fed to digesters was found to increase on supplementation with sheep waste at the 5 to 10% level. The methane content of the gas varied between 60 and 72%, the remainder being carbon dioxide.
