Abstract

A design of dual-polarized phased array antenna based of microstrip patch antenna at X-band is presented in this paper, which can realize beam scanning between ±45° in both directions of vertical and horizontal polarization. The element antenna adopts two rectangular patches arranged in different layers to broaden the bandwidth, and radiates linearly dual-polarization by two different methods of feeding. According to the requirement of wide-angle scanning, the element spacing is small which results in a strong coupling among element antennas and loss in radiant efficiency. For majorization, electric walls and a 180° phase shift are introduced to the array design.
