Abstract
AbstractCellulose triacetate I is yielded from cellulose II of mercerized cellulose and rayons in heterogeneous acetylation with lower swelling pretreatment. Both cellulose triacetates I and II with highly ordered structure substantially are converted into cellulose II on saponification. It is possible to obtain transformation of triacetate I to triacetate II without any dissolving process by a comparatively simple treatment with superheated steam. These three points are discussed.
