Abstract

An ultra-wideband omnidirectional torch-shaped monopole antenna is proposed in this letter for electromagnetic environment monitoring. The proposed antenna is formed by a coaxial cable feed, circular floor, and torch-like radiator. With antenna shaping, the achieved antenna keeps good omnidirectional radiation performance in the ultra-wide operating frequency band. At the same time, it can meet the impedance matching over working frequency band in a compact size. All these characteristics make the proposed monopole antenna a good candidate for electromagnetic environment monitoring.
