Abstract

Failure detection and isolation (FDI) is the key technique of fault tolerant flight control systems. In FDI field, lots of difficult problems had been resolved; however, single method didn't effectively ravel out some intricate problems in FDI. A combined statistical and analytical redundancy approach of FDI on aerodynamic of aircraft is proposed, which includes a set of robust adaptive observers for residual generation and a statistical method for residual evaluation in order to detect fault online. Using an instance of FDI of flight aerodynamic system of a fighter, the advantage of the approach is testified. Feedback information of sensors is used in this automatic terrain following flight control system. The design scheme is simulated in closed loop system, which can detect all sensor faults in online situations.
