Abstract

In previous research, a new multi-step SIR-based power control, referred to as short-term fading prediction-based (SFP-based) method, has been proposed for DS/CDMA downlink power control. Simulation results showed that the SFP method outperforms the original multi-step SIR-based power control. In this paper, we further investigate the behavior of the SFP method applied to uplink. Simulation results show that the SFP method still performs better than the original multi-step SIR-based method. Although the uplink performance is still poorer than the downlink using SFP power control method instead of the original multi-step SIR-based method, the improvement amount of SFP-based method compared to the multi-step SIR-based method in uplink is larger than that in downlink.
