Abstract

The Video Services Forum (VSF) was formed in 1997 to promote interoperability and support development of standards in the professional video transport industry. Member organizations, comprising service providers, users and manufacturers, have been instrumental in developing and fostering the widespread adoption of a number of industry standards for high-performance video transport that are principally used in the video contribution and primary distribution markets. In addition, the VSF has been an advocate for establishing and educating the industry about a variety of measurement techniques that are used to assess the quality of video signal delivery systems. The VSF is not a due-process standards development organization, but it has been instrumental in supporting the efforts of SMPTE, Automatic Terminal Information Service (ATIS), the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), and other standards bodies.
