Abstract

The roots and aerial parts of Tephrosia crassifolia afforded an isopropenyldihydrofuran biflavanol and a new chalcone. The structures and relative configuration were established by spectroscopic and chemical methods, and confirmed by X-ray diffraction. Crassifolin is the second 3,4″ ether-linked biflavan-4-ol to be isolated from the genus Tephrosia.
